Like many Reiki practitioners, I was guided to shift my professional Reiki practice entirely to distance sessions when the pandemic began sweeping across the globe in early 2020. Although my practice had always offered both in-person and distant services, Reiki’s guidance made it clear that the shift to remote healing was necessary for me during this time of cataclysmic change. This is especially true since I live with a chronic illness that could make me more susceptible to the virus. Additionally, Reiki indicated that providing distant healing services would expand the reach of Reiki’s energy at a time when the need for healing has never been greater.

Fortunately, I had years of experience conducting distant Reiki, and over the years, had been guided to develop a remote healing method that has worked well for my clients and me. As a proponent of distant Reiki and its unfailing ability to provide healing regardless of time or space, I often say, “There is no distance in distant Reiki.” And, as with all things Reiki, I continue to be awed and humbled by its ability to adapt and transcend any earthly situation or circumstance, regardless of magnitude.

As a result, I have been conducting Reiki sessions exclusively via distance for almost seven months as of this writing. Shortly after beginning these “pandemic sessions,” I noticed differences in them compared to those I conducted pre-pandemic. For one thing, the sessions were lasting much longer, sometimes up to twice as long! Additionally, I noted that my practice attracted clients new to Reiki, who described experiencing an unexplainable compulsion to schedule a treatment. But, perhaps the most striking difference for me occurred with the guidance and direction I receive from Reiki during a session.

To provide context, in previous articles, I have discussed how Reiki directs each of my sessions and provides clear instructions as to techniques, hand positions, and even when the treatment is complete. Reiki also delivered specific insights about each client and their healing needs. This was exceedingly helpful for clients, giving them precisely what they need and allowing me to relax as I focus on channeling the energy. Unsurprisingly, I had become accustomed over the years to receiving this specifically tailored information about each individual. After all, that had always been the case – until the pandemic. What I have noted with startling frequency is that Reiki’s guidance and insights during these sessions are almost identical and consistent for all clients. Client-specific information occurs significantly less often than it did pre-pandemic.

This turn of events was curious, as well as puzzling, and in a series of meditations, I questioned Reiki about its significance. Reiki and Spirit helped me to understand that, at this point in humanity’s evolution, the guidance received in a Reiki session is not intended solely for the individual but for all of humankind. Reiki is a vehicle by which Spirit conveys direction and insights that are beneficial for all and is not limited to the session recipient. Spirit also reminded me that, although these turbulent times are painful and frightening, they are necessary and purposeful. As a result, it is more important than ever to share Spirit’s guidance throughout the world. The successful emergence of the New Consciousness depends on it, and distant Reiki occupies an integral role in this endeavor. Spirit also advised that the healing experienced in each Reiki session creates ripples of healing energy felt across the planet, virtually unlimited in scope and effect. Reiki treats the individual as a representative of humanity. Therefore, every individual who receives a Reiki session is a co-creator in the larger effort of birthing the new earth and is an active participant in the collective evolution.

With this article, Reiki guided me to share what I have learned as a service to the global Reiki community. It is my intention and hope that it resonates with readers and that it may provide direction and reassurance in your lives and practices.

Guidance and Insights

• The Chakras – In my experience before the pandemic, the initial and subsequent scans of the client’s chakras typically reveal two or three that require extra attention during the session. However, in pandemic sessions, I have noted overwhelmingly that all of the primary chakras are affected, which involves more extensive healing work. Also, the root and third eye chakras tend to be impacted the most. Reiki’s guidance indicates that the root chakra is affected due to an unrelenting sense of the “ground shifting” as the pandemic continues to destabilize the planet and its inhabitants.

The third eye chakra is extraordinarily active in many individuals at this time, which can quickly result in blockages and imbalances as new energies pour in, and insights are born of these energies. Nowadays, the energy flowing into the chakras is of a much higher vibration and sometimes overloads the dense physical body. Reiki assures me that this is to be expected as Spirit prepares us for what is yet to come.

• The Hand Positions – In pre-pandemic sessions, I utilized most, if not all, of the hand positions for each individual, always with Reiki’s guidance. However, during the pandemic sessions, the use of the hand positions shifted considerably as the energy directed me to spend more time working with the upper chakras (throat, third eye, crown). Reiki’s guidance also led me to channel energy to the past-life chakras, located off-body, slightly above and behind each ear. Reiki explained that these chakras are vitally important as we move forward in our evolution, both individually and collectively. Additionally, when the treatment progressed to the client’s mid-body, Reiki directed me to treat the client’s entire energy field in that area instead of each body part and its corresponding chakra, as I had done pre-pandemic. I also received explicit instructions to sweep the energy of the middle body in an upward motion several times. And then to bring it together into a central vortex above the heart chakra, sending it with focused intention into the highest heavens. These actions serve not only to heal the client but also to enhance their energy frequency significantly. Reiki reminded me that, as the individual’s vibration rises, so does that of the planet and humanity.
• The Crystals – Many of you may already know that I incorporate crystals into my Reiki sessions and have done so for years. And I have always intuitively chosen the crystals for each session based on the client’s needs. However, with the pandemic’s arrival, Reiki itself has provided clear guidance about two crystals I am to use routinely in distant sessions – Selenite and Shungite. So, over the last several months, these two stones have been included in almost all my healing work. When I questioned this, Reiki merely advised that the energies of Selenite and Shungite are essential for collective cleansing and healing. And although I continue to add other crystals as guided by intuition, Selenite and Shungite enjoy a prominent place in my Reiki treatments.
• Client Issues and Causation – As mentioned previously, guidance during the pre-pandemic sessions was primarily client-specific. But the direction shifted during the pandemic and became focused on the individual as a participant in humanity’s evolution. However, although client-specific information occurs less often than it did pre-pandemic, Reiki still provides necessary insights for the individual, but in a much broader context, delivered within a universal framework. In other words, Reiki makes it clear that specific issues are not limited to the individual but are manifestations and symptoms of global anguish and hardship. The origins of our struggles are contained within the Web of Oneness. This insight reveals a fundamental truth – because we exist as Divine Sparks and eternal elements of the One Web of Creation, when One of us suffers, we all suffer. In its unerring wisdom, Reiki has illuminated this profound truth as we continue to strive to realize the New Consciousness.

Without a doubt, my Reiki sessions conducted during these times look very different than they did several months ago. The changes represent the seismic shifts sweeping the planet as we move resolutely toward a new way of being. And through it all, Reiki remains a steadfast ally and guide, providing us with all we need to achieve the promise of the New Earth.
